What is IR Control?

JubileeTV can control many devices using modern methods like IP (Internet Protocol), BT (Bluetooth), or HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). However, some devices, such as TVs, cable boxes, TiVo, many Blu-Ray players, and some AV receivers, require IR (Infrared) control. IR control uses digitally coded pulses of infrared light to operate various functions like power, volume, and channel changes. These devices need a clear "line of sight" to receive IR signals effectively. If the path is obstructed or the IR transmitter is misaligned, the control may become unreliable or fail.

Troubleshooting IR can be tricky since we can't see infrared light. A helpful tip is to use your smartphone's camera to detect the IR signals. When you point the camera at the JubileeTV Console, you should see its emitters light up on the camera screen when sending commands (the JubileeTV Console has emitters in each corner that will light up). This technique can verify whether the IR transmitters are actively sending signals.
